Hall Modernisation & Extension

A survey of villagers and the groups that use the village hall conducted in 2007 resulted in a very strong vote for refurbishment.
A project brief was subsequently developed by the Management Committee.

The overall aim of the project is to transform the existing 70 year old, “tired” and dated, village hall into a modern sustainable facility that meets the needs of village residents, local groups, and external agencies;

to create a renewed

   -  a truly vibrant community hub for recreational, educational and health focused  activities

Phase 1 – Extension
Following two years of fundraising with terrific support from the local community, a new two storey wing creating a host of new facilities and improving the energy efficiency of the building was built and officially opened on 7th May 2011.   This has completely transformed  the hall’s basic facilities with the creation of a new light and airy entrance lobby, a reception and refreshment area complete with bar,  a large modern kitchen,  new ladies, gents and disabled toilet facilities  and a large meeting room on the first floor.

The facilities were designed by the award winning local architect, Valerie Hinde,  of Petworth and built by Chiverton, of Bognor Regis

Phase 2 – Modernisation of the Main Hall
Phase 2 will follow when funds are available and will include the refurbishment of the main hall ( retiling of the roof, much improved insulation and replacement double glazed windows, new doors, updating of lights  and other electrical fittings  and decoration) together with external works comprising improvements to the parking facilities and entrance to the site.
